Troop 689 is a family Scout troop for both boys and girls, chartered by St. Peter Claver Church in Simi Valley, and has been continuously active since its founding in 1976. We are a youth-led troop, following the vision of Lord Baden-Powell, where Scouts are given the opportunity to lead, learn, and grow through hands-on experiences. We are fully committed to the aims of Scouting: character development, citizenship training, and mental and physical fitness, while providing a welcoming environment where all Scouts can challenge themselves, build lifelong friendships, and develop the skills needed to become responsible leaders and citizens.

We meet once a week on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the parish hall of St. Peter Claver church. Feel free to Contact Us for more information. We generally host one monthly weekend outing for the Scouts offering a wide range of activities including beach camping, rock climbing, white water rafting, lake camping, fishing, hiking, cycling, model rocketry and much more.

The troop is currently led by scoutmaster Paul Calloway, Committee Chair Michelle Gillenwater and supported by a committed team of assistant scoutmasters and committee members. Our goal is to support the youth in running the troop, planning exciting activities and achieving success advancing through the scouting program. Come join us at a meeting any time and see what we’re all about!
